Fluid Check
As the fall season progresses, you’ll notice that you’ll begin dialing the interior temperature on the automatic climate control system higher and higher. The toasty heat emitted from the vents comes from the radiator, which absorbs a significant amount of the warmth generated from the engine after it takes in coolant fluid. It’s typically found within a translucent reservoir underneath the hood, and is pink in color. We highly recommend making sure to see how much is left within the tank. With the hood still open, check the status of the oil in your vehicle by finding its dipstick and removing it from its holder. Then, wipe away the excess oil on the tip, reinsert it, and monitor its condition. If the level is rather low or brown in color, give us a call so that you don’t receive that dreaded low oil warning while on your way to dropping off your kids at school.
Cabin Air Filter
You’re going to be operating the HVAC controls quite a bit throughout the fall season, which is why you should prioritize breathing in clean oxygen as you cruise to Rainbow Beach Park for a stroll through brisk weather. However, if the cabin air filter has worked hard throughout the prior spring and summer seasons, it’s likely that it has collected tons of debris in the process. These can include an amalgamation of bugs, pollen, dust, and other allergens. One obvious warning sign that it’s too clogged to get you through autumn would be if the vents emit a musty odor when you turn the heat or air conditioning on. If this is compounded by weak airflow, contact one of our Service Departments for our technicians to replace it with a clean cabin air filter.
Cleaning and Emergency Preparation Kit Check
Even if your vehicle is on the newer side, it’s always advisable to travel with an emergency preparation kit before you head to that evening bonfire that your friend is hosting. It’s possible that the car battery could fail prematurely on I-90, leaving you without a way to properly heat the vehicle. If you’re properly prepared beforehand, you can keep warm with emergency blankets, water, and thick gloves while you wait for helpful services to arrive. It’s also important to keep the interior and exterior of your car clean, as the heat it has endured over the past few months could have caused damage to the top paint coat or leather seating appointments. You can invest in a car cover to further protect the outer coating from chipping or cracking during the later half of fall, as well as polishing the leather occasionally to prevent the cold from making it brittle.
